Zhia L. Shepardson
Of Counsel
Zhia L. Shepardson is Of Counsel to Rismiller Law Group, LLC and works in the Estate Planning and Family Law Departments. She is licensed to practice in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia. She focuses her practice in the areas of Estate and Trust Planning, as well as Domestic Litigation, with particular experience on representing children in contested custody matters.

Ms. Shepardson has served as an adjunct law professor at Stevenson University for over 10 years, teaching her students skills such as analytical thinking in the legal environment, substantive law and litigation skills. Ms. Shepardson currently serves on the Montgomery County Judicial Selections Committee and also assists the Maryland State Board of Law Examiners. During law school, she clerked in the Tax Compliance Division of the Maryland Comptroller’s Office in Baltimore and has studied International Tax Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa in Ontario, Canada. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Pre-Law from Villa Julie College and her Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Baltimore, School of Law. She has also received certification as a parent coordinator, a mediator and settlement conference facilitator, is also trained in collaborative law and as a parenting coordinator.
Ms. Shepardson has been recognized as a top lawyer by Maryland Super Lawyers Magazine and Baltimore Magazine, as well as a named Top 10 Family Attorney in Maryland Under 40 (National Academy of Family Law) and Top 40 Litigator in Maryland (National Trial Lawyers).
