Madeline Doty is an Associate at RLG Law, focusing her practice in Family Law.

In addition to family law, Ms. Doty’s areas of interest include mental health advocacy, disability rights, and criminal law. She joined RLG Law after serving as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Christopher C. Fogleman in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland, where she assisted with daily dockets in criminal, family, and civil law. She also conducted research on various family law issues, wrote orders, and drafted a post-conviction opinion.

While completing her legal education, Ms. Doty was a Student Attorney in the Disability Rights Law Clinic at the American University Washington College of Law. She counseled clients on various disability rights law issues, such as ADA noncompliance. Among other matters, and together with another Student Attorney, she successfully appealed a Medicaid Home Health Care decision on behalf of a client, achieving an increase in approved hours for the client’s personal care aide.

Ms. Doty completed two internships during law school. She worked as a Legal Intern with the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Prince William County, Virginia. In her role, she prepared dockets and attended hearings for criminal law cases including domestic violence and low-level offenses. She also conducted legal research and wrote memoranda regarding the Virginia RICO statute and various hearsay exceptions. Ms. Doty also completed an internship with McConkie Hales in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she was introduced to the family law field.

Before law school, her experience includes working as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Dee V. Benson in the United States District Court in Salt Lake City, Utah and as a Legal Secretary for Dentons, Durham, Jones Pinegar in Lehi, Utah.

Ms. Doty received her undergraduate degree from Utah State University, where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a minor in Marketing. During her undergraduate education, she was an active member of the Pre-Law Society, serving on the Executive Committee. Ms. Doty received her Juris Doctor degree from the American University Washington College of Law. In addition to her work with the Disability Rights Law Clinic, she served on the Executive Board of the Disability Rights Law Society during the final two years of her legal education.
